The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated two incidents from Friday’s game in Novosibirsk between Sibir and Lokomotiv
Yaroslavl. In the final minute of regulation time, Yaroslavl forward Sergei Konkov was sent to the locker room after leading with his shoulder in a high challenge on Stepan Sannikov, in an attempt to block the Sibir forward’s advance following a face-off. The Committee upholds the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by checking to the head and neck area, and has suspended Konkov for one game.
The Committee also studied the 31st-minute incident which led to Lokomotiv defenseman Alexei Vasilyev receiving a minor plus misconduct penalty (2+10 minutes) for checking to the head and neck area. The Committee has downgraded the offense to one of high-sticking, which merits a minor penalty (2 minutes).
