The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated an incident from Tuesday’s game in Kazan between Ak Bars and Salavat Yulaev. At the end of the first period, Ufa goaltender Niklas Svedberg received a 2-minute penalty for slashing. Having studied the episode, however, the Committee found Svedberg guilty of the more serious offense of spearing, and as a result has replaced the minor penalty with a minor, major and game misconduct penalty (2+5+20 minutes). As this is Svedberg’s second 20-minute penalty of the current season (following his dismissal against Avangard on the 3rd of September), he incurs a one-game suspension for repeat offending, ruling him out of tonight’s game against Lada in Togliatti.
