HC Medvescak of Zagreb has opted for North American expertise and appointed Gordie Dwyer as head coach. The 37-year-old Canadian specialist had recently served as an assistant coach of Team Canada’s Under-18 side, winning a bronze at the 2012 IIHF World Juniors, and head coach of the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In his playing days, Dwyer made a total of 108 NHL appearances in spells with Tampa, the New York Rangers and Montreal.
